Corel Draw Tutorial Letter in Pocket

In this tutorial we will try to create a "Letter in Pocket" Text Effect with CorelDRAW (on this tutorial is CorelDRAW X7). Perhaps there are many ways to make this effect, but this time we will learn one of them.

Step 1
Create a rectangle background with Rectangle Tool (F6). Coloring according with your taste.

Step 2
Create your text with Text Tool (F8). With the text is selected, copy it with shorcut Ctrl+C.

Step 3
With the text is selected, go to Bitmaps -> Convert to Bitmap.

NB: Another way to make the shadow is with Drop Shadow tool.

Step 4
Convert To Bitmap windows will appear. Let the default option. Make sure the Transparent background option is checked, then click OK.

Step 5
With the object selected, go to Bitmaps -> Blur -> Gaussian Blur.

Step 6
Gaussian Blur windows will appear. Change the Radius value to taste. On this tutorial, with the size of the text here, its enaugh with Radius = 3.0 Pixels. Then click OK. This is text shadows object.

Step 7
Move the text shadow object few pixel. For example I move the text object 3 pixels to left and 3 pixels down (for light shadows from right-top side). 

Step 8
To soften shadows, use Transparency tool. Then choose Uniform transparency mode. Adjust the transparency value with your taste. On this tutorial, let the default value (50).

Step 9
Paste the copied text on Step 2 with shortcut Ctrl+V.

Step 10
Coloring the text object with your taste.

Step 11
Select the text and text shadows objects. Then group them (Ctrl+G).

Step 12
Create a rectangle with Rectangle Tool (F6) like image below.

Step 13
Create an ellipse with Ellipse Tool (F7) like image below. With the ellipse is selected, copy it with shorcut Ctrl+C.

Step 14
Select the rectangle and ellipse objects then click Back minus front icon (shaping tool).

Coloring the Back minus front result with black (shadows color).

Step 16
Repeat Step 3 to 5 for the object. Go to Bitmaps -> Convert to Bitmap, then OK. Go to Bitmaps -> Blur -> Gaussian Blur. then OK. We call it Shadow base object.

Step 17
Paste the copied ellipse on Step 13 with shorcut Ctrl+V.

Step 18
Select ellipse object "first", then the shadow base object. Click the Intersect icon (shaping tool).

Step 19
Delete the shadow base object and original grouped text object.

You're DONE.
